Composed by Tony Hatch and originally recorded by Petula Clark, Downtown has proven to be an enduring classic, covered by myriad artists in various genres and popping up repeatedly in popular films and television programs. The video embedded here is of Emma Bunton‘s version, which was the Official Charity Song for the BBC’s Children in Need a few years back. Judging the video, Emma Bunton must have thought they needed erections. I chose this version because, well, I already mentioned Emma Bunton and erections; need I say more? Happy Saturday!
